Is Bravo’s The Valley in Trouble Amid Low Ratings? Here’s What We Know…

Currently, The Valley is one of the best shows on Bravo, so I am a bit confused as to why the ratings don’t reflect this. The group of friends has returned for a second season with even more drama. The cameras have caught Jax Taylor heading to rehab, and the Lally marriage is crumbling. Each week somehow gets better and better. So what’s actually going on, and who isn’t tuning in to this masterpiece?

The Valley might get a cast shake-up after Season 2

The U.S. Sun reported that Bravo producers are considering changes ahead of Season 3 of The Valley. The source shared that it’s “too early” to determine who will be cut; however, they implied the cast in the third season “will not be the same” as the current lineup. The insider added, “It’s too early to say how things will go next season; they still have a lot of this season to get through, but the ratings decline has been a big blow for the show.”

However, I haven’t read a lot about Season 2 being disappointing. In fact, most comments seem to be positive. The insider addressed possible changes, noting, “Some people won’t return and new ones will be added. Who that will be is still to be determined. I know there are a lot of complaints about bringing Scheana [Shay] and Lala [Kent] and other Vanderpump Rules alums back in a larger role, but it might be necessary to move the show forward.”

Jax Taylor has tainted The Valley with his behavior

I’m going to go out on a limb here and blame a lot of this possible shake-up on Jax. However, producers knew what they were getting into when they cast the OG villain. His time on Vanderpump Rules wasn’t untainted. He was angry, mean, fat-shamed, and got fired for his racially fueled social media remarks. It’s not like Jax turned bad overnight. The source noted, “Between that and the problematic behavior of Jax, the higher-ups are weighing the options over continuing with the trajectory it’s going in or regrouping.”

The network wants to make sure they are not going “to enable his behavior. Putting the show on pause isn’t off the table either. They’re not sure it can continue with the current way it’s going.” In the Season 2 premiere, Jax’s outbursts were on full display as Brittany Cartwright shared that he flipped a table onto her. And during the cast trip, viewers watched as Jax bombarded Brittany with rage text after rage text. Jax’s lack of control is not healthy, with the abuse alarming viewers. The source did make sure to note that The Valley was not “necessarily in danger of cancellation, but there is a shakeup that needs to happen for season 3.”

The Valley’s low ratings might be balanced out by streaming figures

According to the network, the most recent episode of The Valley hit an all-time low in viewership. The numbers showed that just 390,000 people tuned in when the series aired on Tuesday. This is a stark shift from when the series first premiered in March 2024, when the first episode garnered 780,000 views. The source noted that “The show cannot keep going on a downward trajectory like this. There will 100% be changes to season 3, if it does get picked up for the third season.” Now, the numbers could be a bit off due to streaming. The Valley can be watched on Peacock and Hayu the day after its normal timeslot. And with people’s busy weekly schedules, it could just be that they aren’t making the regular lineup but rather catching up a day or two later.

According to the news outlet, the average views for Season 1 were around 651,000. This number is a bit upsetting since it is already clocking higher than the current episode. As for the Season 2 premiere, it didn’t reach the caliber of numbers that Season 1 did. It raked in only 487,000. And the number dove in week 2 with 423,000. Hopefully, the show can hold onto its place on the charts since Season 2 is giving a top-tier performance. It would be a shame if The Valley were cancelled before it ever really got started.

The Valley is available to stream on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
