Miley Cyrus could not have been more honest as she detailed how winning her first Grammy Award for “Flowers” was “healing” for her. The singer-songwriter and actor is gearing up for the release of her upcoming album “Something Beautiful.” Ahead of the new record drop, Cyrus recently sat down with Zane Lowe for a candid interview. While in conversation, the former Disney star opened up about how much holding the trophy for “Flowers” meant to her.
Miley Cyrus reveals holding the trophy for ‘Flowers’ felt like a ‘true achievement’
Miley Cyrus got candid about her Grammy win for “Flowers” while appearing on the May 21 episode of Apple Music’s “The Zane Lowe Show.” Last year, the 32-year-old artist won big at the 66th edition of the prestigious awards show when she swept the trophy for Best Pop Solo Performance and Record of the Year for her hit 2023 song. Cyrus reflected on the same while in talks with Zane Lowe during the recent interview.
Cyrus recalled, “I think for me, with ‘Flowers,’ somewhere inside of me — maybe my ego, or maybe, you know, the amount of time that I dedicated myself to it.” She continued, “…I think somewhere inside of me, I needed maybe to hold a trophy.” Cyrus explained that she wanted to “feel for a moment” that she has something that she can “hold” in her hands that “feels like a true achievement.”
Cyrus continued to share that after every album she made, she would tell herself, “Well, I did what I came here to do, and I made the album that I set out to make, and that’s enough.” The “Hannah Montana” star explained that maybe it was the “kid” in her that wanted something tangible to feel fulfilled. Cyrus said, “I needed, like, something to hold that made me feel like I had really won.” The “Party in the U.S.A.” hitmaker added, “And so at the Grammys, that’s why I went, it was actually for, like, healing.”
