Taylor Swift has reportedly found her way out of the Blake Lively-Justin Baldoni lawsuit after outdistancing the subpoena with sufficient efforts. Earlier this month, reports confirmed that Baldoni had served the pop star and her lawyers at Venable two separate, but similar subpoenas in connection with the case, seeking communication between the parties.
Swift’s rep and the law firm that has represented her for over a decade, criticized the director and moved to squash his attempts, which proved successful. Deadline and Page Six can confirm.
Justin Baldoni drops Taylor Swift subpoena amid legal battle with Blake Lively
Justin Baldoni’s subpoena for Taylor Swift in his ongoing lawsuit drama with Blake Lively likely caused irreversible damage to their friendship. Sources have mentioned a rift between the two friends but there still might be hope, as Baldoni dropped his subpoena to the singer, Deadline confirmed. On Thursday, a spokesperson for Lively told the publication that the director and the Wayfarer Parties withdrew “their harassing subpoenas to Taylor Swift and her law firm” with her team supporting Swift’s efforts to “quash these inappropriate subpoenas.”
Lively’s spokesperson promised to “stand up for any third party” that the other party tries to “unjustly” harass or threaten. Additionally, they called out their attempts to cause a distraction and put the Grammy winner at the center of the case that stemmed from the 2024 sexual harassment lawsuit. The rep further accused Baldoni’s team of “exploiting” Swift’s celebrity status from the start and criticized Melissa Nathan, his crisis management PR chief, for failing to justify their claims in front of the federal court.
Page Six also shared Deadline’s reporting and claimed they have not received any further information, but shared a source’s cryptic message. “When information is voluntarily received, there is no need for subpoenas,” the source exclusively told them about the matter.
Elsewhere, Justin Baldoni’s lawyers had reportedly accused Blake Lively of threatening and pressuring Taylor Swift into releasing a public statement of support, or she would leak private messages. In response, Lively’s legal team vehemently denied the claims, branding them false.
