I’ll be the first to admit it. I’m a big softy when it comes to timeless friendships. For years, Summer House has been amazing at showcasing a group of genuine friends as they go through the highs and lows of a shared summer rental. But somehow, Season 9 really did a number on my heart as the finale pulled all the strings.
The Summer House ladies proved in the Season 9 finale that having really good girlfriends is important
Having a solid set of girlfriends around you is essential at every stage of your life. These types of friendships are incredibly valuable and beneficial. The friendships on Summer House offer emotional support, a sense of belonging, and opportunities for growth. The Bravolebs provide one another a space for sharing experiences, offering advice, and celebrating each other’s successes. Nothing goes to prove this point more than the women of the series. As the seasons have worn on, the ladies have really rallied around one another.
Ciara Miller said it best when she noted “I’ll be damned if I’m an 80 year old woman sitting on tv and coming after another woman.” Paige DeSorbo, Ciara, Amanda Batula, and Lindsay Hubbard just don’t stand for that type of behavior anymore. And it is refreshing to see. All season long, Ciara, in particular, made it clear that she wasn’t going to allow Paige to be poorly treated for her decision to end her relationship. The feelings came full circle during the finale when Paige was able to sit in her truth as she told her friends she was happier than she had been in a long time.
Paige DeSorbo and Lindsay Hubbard felt like the Summer House best friends we all need
Again, I never had Lindsay and Paige becoming besties on my Bravo bingo card. But the Summer House finale proved me wrong yet again. The two women started out rocky, as fans recall that Paige insinuated Lindsay was a liar while she dated Carl Radke. But the two influencers have moved past their issues and were able to build a stable friendship. In Paige’s own words, she is now “obsessed” with Lindsay. Throughout Season 9, cameras caught the duo interacting in ways best friends would. Paige called to sing Lindsay a happy birthday, and Lindsay was there to offer advice for her breakup.
Frankly, their newfound love for one another was the spark that the Summer House needed. Lindsay has started to let her guard down, giving Paige the perfect bonding timing. In a world where women definitely do not always support women, it was nice to watch them be kind and empathetic to one another during the season finale. It also helps that Paige is a kind person who is willing to look past their issues. The podcaster didn’t let howLindsay has treated her in the past dictate their future friendship, as Paige will not kick someone when they are down.
Paige DeSorbo taking a breast milk shot in the Summer House finale was a choice
Nothing brings a group of friends closer than taking cold shots of freshly pumped breast milk. While I might not have partaken, the ritual did more than boost their immunity. For Paige, Amanda, and Lindsay, it was about embracing the journey of motherhood and showing their friend support. Paige noted on her Amazon Live, “I was like, ‘Put a little in a shot glass for your girl! I wanna try it.’ And she had never tried it either. I was like, ‘Are you kidding? We’re trying it!’ So, we tried it, and we loved it.”
The Summer House ladies reminded me of my own interpersonal relationships. I, like many viewers, have had a small circle of friends for 20+ years. And while some fall away, others become closer. Even though one or two may stray from the pack, the Summer House girls taught me that there is always hope for reconciliation if there is respect. I appreciate the strong and authentic friendships Summer House portrays. Watching Ciara, Paige, Lindsay, and Amanda in the season finale made me realize there are some ways I can be a better friend to the ones that I have. To be perfectly honest, I couldn’t believe I left a Summer House episode with an epiphany. Thanks, ladies!
Summer House is available to stream on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
