The Duck Dynasty has lost its patriarch. Phil Robertson, who starred on the hit A&E series from 2012 to 2017, has passed away at 79. The news was confirmed over the weekend by his daughter-in-law, and the family is thanking fans for their condolences.

According to a report from TMZ, Phil’s daughter-in-law, Korie Robertson, announced the news of his passing via Facebook on May 25, 2025. She said their family felt grateful for the life he had and the people he impacted, both on and off screen.
“We know so many of you love him and have been impacted by his life,” Kori wrote in her announcement. “We’re having a private service for now, but we’ll share details soon about a public celebration of his life.”
The news of Phil’s death arrived just months after his family revealed he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. His son, Jase Robertson, said that the Duck Commander founder was “struggling to live” and also suffering from a blood disease. Following his father’s passing, he took to Twitter to share a heartfelt tribute.
He wrote, “My dad has gone to be with the Lord today! He will be missed but we know he is in good hands, and our family is good because God is very good! We will see him again!”
Phil, who was temporarily suspended from A&E for making racist and homophobic comments, spent the last decade of his life advocating for right-wing politicians. He famously spoke at a campaign rally for Trump in 2019. Thus, he’s receiving an outpouring of tributes from online conservative influencers.
Meanwhile, A&E is gearing up to bring the family back to our screens. Duck Dynasty: The Revival will follow Willie Robertson’s life with Korie. He currently serves as the CEO of Duck Commander, and the series will follow the next chapter in their lives. The dynasty lives on.
Duck Dynasty is streaming with A&E.
