Sometimes there are people who are too pure for this world. Nia Booko is one of those Bravolebs. The beauty queen has tirelessly been trying to support her group of friends even when they are behaving badly. But it seems rare that there is a time the group looks out for Nia. Last week, The Valley showed the women ganging up on our sweet Nia, leaving many fans to note that we have to protect the mother of three at all costs.

Nia Booko opens up about growing up homeless on The Valley Season 2 Episode 6

The last few episodes have not been kind to Nia. The Valley’s favorite couple has been backed into a corner because they always act like they are perfect. The group’s main gripes happened to be about Danny Booko’s out-of-control drinking, leaving Nia as a one-woman army when it came to defending him. Viewers learned that last Halloween, Dark Side Danny made an appearance and exhibited inappropriate behavior towards Jasmine Goode and her fiancé Melissa Moore. While Danny was taking a power nap, the girls ganged up on Nia, accusing her of trying to cover up any cracks in their marital foundation.

During Episode 6 of The Valley, Nia opened up about a very raw and emotional part of her life. Fans and her friends would never have guessed that she struggled when she was a child into early adulthood. During the ladies’ dinner/apology world tour, Nia embraced her past. She told her friends, “I was homeless with my mom when I was kid. We were living in a shelter; we slept on couches; we pitched tents in people’s backyards; we had to go to parks and get cans out of trash cans to pay rent.”

The Valley’s Nia Booko only wants to be kind and not a mean girl

Many might have the preconceived notion that being a beauty queen would mean you’re probably a mean girl. But on the contrary, Nia is warm and welcoming. And after winning Miss USA 2014, she went on to become one of the most well-respected coaches in the industry. Nia sees her past as a source of inspiration. She went on to share, “I’ve had times that I’ve slept in my own car as an adult. I had a job, but I had to sleep in my car in the parking lot where I worked.” Nia took to her confessional, adding, “How mortifying is that? To wake up to a security guard being like, ‘you need to leave the employee parking lot,’ and having to go sleep at a Ralph’s instead.”

For the Bravoleb, “life has not been easy, but that’s okay because it’s made me strong. And instead of wallowing or waiting for the women to pity her, Nia chose a different route. She told cameras, “If I can be that point of light and kindness and positivity, I’d rather bring that into people’s lives. I’ve been through so much, but I’ve always chosen to be positive.”

Nia Booko is the friend you want in your corner, especially on a show like The Valley

Without a doubt, Nia is the friend you always want in your corner. While the other women sank low and chose to attack her on the Santa Barbara trip, Nia is choosing to take the high ground. Perhaps the best thing about Nia is that she knows exactly who she is. In the two seasons, Nia has yet to betray her moral fiber just to snag an extra few minutes in front of the camera. Fans have seen her support both Michelle Saniei and Brittany Cartwright during their horrific divorces. Yet, her friend group is failing her when it comes to supporting her needs.

Nia ended her confessional with a positive outlook, which is so on brand. She noted, “I’ve always had to have that perspective. My therapist is like, ‘you’ve had to be that way to survive.’” But for Nia, it is always easier to be a kind person than a mean one. She added, “I’m not going to be negative with people when I have so much to be grateful for, and if my friends want to say that I’m hiding things because I’m choosing to be intentional and positive, then they can say whatever they want to say. But I know my truth.”

The Valley is available to stream on Peacock and on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
