On Wednesday, Barack and Michelle Obama were spotted spending a romantic time in New York City amid the divorce rumors. In photos taken by Backgrid, the couple was photographed exiting The Lowell Hotel in Midtown Manhattan after a lunch date. They were surrounded by Secret Service members for security details.
The former president and his wife kept their fashion game on point for this romantic occasion. Michelle was a sight to behold as she wore a black ruffled gown and slim heels. She chose to opt for a light makeup, shiny statement earrings, thick bangles, and tied her hair neatly in a braid. On the other hand, Barack looked dapper in a clean black suit, which he paired with matching boots. As it was, the couple’s color-coordinated outfits made for a perfect lunch date fashion choice.
Notably, this is Barack and Michelle Obama’s first public appearance together in more than a month. Previously, they sparked divorce rumors due to Michelle’s absence alongside Barack in high-profile events. These were Donald Trump’s inauguration and former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral.
However, Michelle ended up shutting down the speculation, explaining her absences were just a personal choice on Sophia Bush’s “Work in Progress” podcast: “I chose to do what was best for me.” The couple’s latest public appearance together clearly dismisses the online chatter about the couple facing trouble in paradise. Moreover, Michelle wearing her wedding ring on the date suggests all is well between her and her husband.
