Taylor Swift & Jack Antonoff Celebrate Masters Buy Back With Listening Party

Taylor Swift recently announced she bought back her masters, celebrating the feat with Jack Antonoff in a listening party. Creating a landmark moment for artists and their rights over their catalog, Swift now owns all her songs and albums. She celebrated the purchase by dancing to “Getaway Car” with her longtime collaborator and friend, Antonoff. They marked the occasion with a lively kitchen jam session, taking Swifties back to the era of Swift’s album, “Reputation.”

Jack Antonoff celebrated Taylor Swift’s purchase of her masters, giving her rights back over her songs and albums. He shared a playful video on X (formerly Twitter), lip-syncing, singing, and jamming to a track from Swift’s 2017 album, “Reputation.” Antonoff captioned the video: “rep forever guilt free listening,” suggesting the triumphant atmosphere in the kitchen.

In the video, the pop sensation dressed down and held her cat, Meredith, while grooving to “Getaway Car” with Antonoff. Capturing the carefree moment and echoing Swift’s victory, the video was a fitting tribute to her achievement. The clip was also a testimonial to Swift and Antonoff’s collaboration on the song. It mimicked the creative process of composing the track together, which the singer had shared a video of in 2017.

For the “Cruel Summer” hitmaker, the celebration is a full-circle victory after a long and public battle over her masters. In 2019, Swift’s music catalogue was sold to Scooter Braun and later to Shamrock Capital, giving them the right to six of her albums from her debut till “Reputation.” After that, Swift announced she would re-release all six albums.

On May 30, however, Swift posted a long letter on her website, describing the emotional weight of her milestone. She revealed, “All of the music I’ve ever made… now belongs… to me,” sparking an immediate supportive reaction from fans. Antonoff’s video was especially moving because fans had been waiting for the imminent release of “Reputation (Taylor’s Version),” which, Swift admitted, she hadn’t “even re-recorded a quarter of it.”

Reclaiming her masters and celebrating the moment of owning her songs and albums with Jack Antonoff, Taylor Swift’s video with the producer was a moment that fans and artists cherished.
