Todd Chrisley Speaks on if Fame Helped His and Julie’s Prison Release

The sky is blue, water is wet, and Todd Chrisley’s fame helped him get a pardon from the POTUS. These are facts, but the Chrisley Knows Best star isn’t quite ready to admit that being a public figure helped him and his wife, Julie Chrisley, evade their combined 19-year prison sentence.

At a recent press conference, a reporter asked Todd and Savannah Chrisley if their celebrity status helped them get the President’s attention. Todd wasn’t ready to go that far.

Todd Chrisley doesn’t “know if it [fame] did or it didn’t” help his case

“I don’t know if [fame] did or it didn’t,” Todd told the reporter.

He then added, “But what I can tell you is that I believe in our President of the United States.”

Meanwhile, Savannah attributed the pardons to her relentlessness. She said she “fought hard” to the point of exhaustion, even begging for meetings with the Trump Administration. Savannah also noted that she didn’t sleep with anyone to obtain the pardons, just in case anyone was wondering.

“That’s the thing, is people think, ‘Oh, you’re a celebrity, you’re white, you have money.’ That we got an upper hand, and we didn’t,” Savannah claimed.

“I had to fight, and I was relentless, and that’s how it happened,” she added.

Another reason why Todd probably feels hesitant about attributing his pardon to his celebrity status is that, in his mind, he never did anything wrong in the first place. Todd continues to maintain his innocence. Those tax evasion, bank fraud, and conspiracy charges were bogus, according to him.

“Even though this pardon has happened, I still was convicted of something that I did not do,” he alleged. “It could be you, it could be you, it could be any of you, and somewhere in this room, someone has had a family member that has been affected by the system. So I understand the shame that’s around it, but I refuse to feed into that, because shame is like a cancer that just spreads, and I have no shame.”

Chrisley Knows Best is streaming on Peacock.
