After admitting she regretted “80 percent” of her tattoos in an interview, Miley Cyrus recently surprised fans with fresh ink. Miley Cyrus’ self-reflection on her tattoos during a New York Times interview was a fresh perspective on her ink collection. Proving the endless pool of artistic expression, the singer added a new piece to her extensive tattoo collection. She did so after admitting she regretted the majority of her tattoos, surprising fans with the new ink.

On Monday, tattoo artist Michelle Santana revealed close-up photos of Cyrus’ latest tattoo. The tattoo artist took to Instagram and showed the ink positioned below Cyrus’ right shoulder. It simply read “Muse” in a cursive script, marking an understated addition to the “Flowers” hitmaker’s tattoos over the years. Santana captioned the post, “?Queen @mileycyrus ?

??grateful to have met such a G✨.”

According to Page Six, the tattoo may be connected to Cyrus’ mother, Tish. In April, the singer wrote on Instagram, “I am honored today to have it out in the world hopefully bringing some joy.” The singer added, “on this night I was singing only to the person I wrote it for. My muse, my mom. xMiley.”

The tattoo came right after Cyrus revealed how she regretted most of her tattoos. When asked about the mistakes she still thought about, she replied: “80 percent of my tattoos.” The pop sensation continued, “I don’t regret them enough to laser them, but some of them, like — I mean I love my cat, but, like, I didn’t need that. I love my dog, but, like, I don’t know, just having a pitbull in every picture for the rest of my life is kind of intense.” She finished the thought, saying, “There’s just a few I could do without.”

Whether the new ink holds a personal significance for Miley Cyrus, her approach to the art reveals that tattoos are a meaningful form of self-expression for the pop singer.
