How Love Island USA Affected Survivor Filming in Fiji

It’s another active summer in Fiji with both Love Island USA and Survivor currently filming. Although there are hundreds of islands in Fiji, there’s a little bit of crossover between the shows. The players on each of the shows are sometimes aware of each other, and now, we’re not sure if this is breaking the fourth wall or a secret new thing.

Like all of the good reality TV gossip, this tidbit arrived via TikTok. A fan posted a video, wondering about any potential crossover between the two shows, which are both filming in June 2025. Love Island host and Vanderpump Rules alum, Ariana Madix, jumped into the comments to share her insider knowledge.

“A former Survivor contestant told me they could hear the villa from their island sometimes and see the lights off in the distance,” Ariana wrote.

Ariana pointed out how the lack of light pollution in Fiji makes it easy for the Islanders and the Survivor players to spot each other’s productions from across the island. They’re like one big happy reality TV family, even though they aren’t actually interacting with each other.

Adding even more fuel to the crossover fire, Survivor 45’s Janani Jha chimed in with her experience. Apparently, the eliminated contestants from her season stayed in the same space used to film a season of Love Island.

She wrote, “Fun fact, our ponderosa for s45 was the same hotel that Love Island USA filmed in :)”

Ariana responded, “Hey bestie, I love that fact!!”

Love Island USA is currently filming (and airing!) Season 7. So far, they’ve already had to kick one girl out of the villa for repeatedly using the N-word across various podcasts.

Meanwhile, Jeff Probst has wrangled an all-star lineup of Survivor castaways for Season 50. The cast has players ranging from Season 1 to the recently filmed Season 49.

Love Island USA is streaming on Peacock, and Survivor returns later this year on CBS.
