Sabrina Carpenter is igniting summer 2025 with her latest track, “Manchild,” enabling speculation about its lyrics. Fans speculate if the sharp and witty lines, like “Man-child / Why you always come a-running to me?” are about Keoghan. After their alleged split last December, netizens believe the latest song is seemingly a jab at her ex. However, if her Instagram post is any indication, the song is just a summer anthem that encapsulates the “young adult” chaos.

The track’s lyrics urged fans to dive deep for meaning, clever barbs, and drama. Post analysis, the internet is curious if Carpenter is tossing shade or serving her fans with a relatable summer anthem. Cosmopolitan noted how her fans and friends flooded the “Espresso” hitmaker’s feed with excitement.  The singer-songwriter’s mastery over the art of tease offered her followers a peek into her mind.

Before the song’s release, billboards across I-69 cheekily featured some “Manchild” lyrics. The highlighted lyrics included “Amen / Hey men” and “I swear they choose me, I’m not choosing them.” Many interpreted the wry lines as a nudge at Keoghan, providing fans with new content to decode.

However, Carpenter‘s Instagram post offered her own perspective on the song. She wrote, “it sounds like the song embodiment of a loving eye roll and it feels like a never ending road trip in the summer.” The singer further said that “wanted to give” the song to her fans so that they can “stick” their “head out the car window and scream it all summer long!” She signed off, saying, “thank you men for testing me!!” subtly hinting that the speculations might not exactly be wrong.

Whether an unapologetic bite or simply a summer staple, Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild” is already making noise with its witty lyrics.
