During a recent interview, Miley Cyrus revealed what she was like during her relationship with her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth. While appearing on the “Every Single Album” podcast, the 32-year-old explained the shift in her persona when she got back together with the Australian actor. The former couple’s first split came around the time Cyrus released her album “Bangerz” in 2013.
The era continues to be remembered as it marked a shift from the singer’s sweet Disney image to a more rebellious one, from rocking short hairstyles to donning bold outfits. While talking on the podcast, Cyrus recalled, “I think that when me and Liam split up the first time with ‘Bangerz,’ it was because it was like, I was this provocateur and it was, like, highly sexualized.”
However, Cyrus went through a “complete 180” switch for her album “Younger Now,” which was released in 2017. This came more than a year after she and Hemsworth rekindled their romance. The former pair got engaged for the second time in 2016 and tied the knot two years later. Meanwhile, Cyrus continued to explain her new persona. The musician shared that for “Younger Now,” she “kind of, like, played into this innocence.” Cyrus said this was because she thought “that was a way to keep and a way to stay.”
She added, “If I’m younger now, if I’m less, like, awake as, like, this sexual woman publicly, then this is going to be the way that I can keep, like, a happy home.” Cyrus’ divorce from Hemsworth was finalized in 2020. Meanwhile, the Disney Channel alum continued to share where she stands with her latest album, “Something Beautiful.” She said, “I do have a really lovely personal life.” Cyrus added, “My career is exactly how I want it to be.”
