The long-standing lawsuit process between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni is reportedly far from reaching a conclusion. As reportedly by the Daily Mail, according to veteran lawyer Omar Serrato, the case may still go on for a long time despite Lively’s latest victory at the court.
On June 9, a judge reportedly dismissed Baldoni’s $400 million defamation lawsuit. The verdict allegedly led the “Gossip Girl” alum to feel a sense of relief. According to the news outlet, several renowned Los Angeles attorneys believe that the legal case may not conclude the way Lively wants it to.
‘I think we have a long way to go’: Lawyer says after Blake Lively lawsuit dismissal
After Justin Baldoni’s $400 million lawsuit against Blake Lively for defamation reportedly faced dismissal in court on Monday, a well-connected lawyer, Omar Serrato, believes that it may be far from over. As reported by the Daily Mail, Serrato said, “I don’t think this will be over any time soon.” The veteran lawyer further stated, “I think we have a long way to go.”
Omar Serrato further explained, “I thought Judge Liman would reserve judgement until the conclusion of discovery.” By this, the attorney referred to the procedure in which, during a lawsuit, parties exchange evidence and information to prepare for trial. According to the lawyer, Monday’s verdict gave Justin Baldoni the opportunity to appeal the ruling. Serrato said, “I was surprised. It certainly feels like it may be in danger of appellate review.”
Apart from that, the veteran attorney reportedly also thinks that Blake Lively’s harassment lawsuit against Justin Baldoni is frail. The lawyer believes so, as an array of alleged emails, text messages, videos, and clashing statements reportedly made by others from the set undermines the case.
In the meantime, Monday’s judgement has reportedly left Justin Baldoni in a state of disappointment. However, an “insider” close to the actor-director said to the Daily Mail that Baldoni is putting all his trust in his legal team. He was “looking to figure out how to move forward from this current setback,” added the person.
