Sabrina Carpenter Highlights Hypocrisy Behind Sexual Performance Criticism

Sabrina Carpenter has often dealt with controversies related to her embracing her sexuality. However, it has not stopped her from climbing the success ladder; instead, the singer clapped back at her critics. In a recent cover interview for Rolling Stone, she addressed the hypocrisy behind the criticism of her sexual performances in her music videos and concerts.

Sabrina Carpenter reacts to complaints about her performance: ‘Clearly you love sex’

Sabrina Carpenter has built upon a reputation for making fun music videos with sultry lyrics. In an interview with Rolling Stone, the former Disney actor opened up about people’s reactions to her sexual performance in her music videos and stage shows. While reacting to complaints about her performance, the Grammy winner said, “It’s always so funny to me.” She added, “They’re like, ‘All she does is sing about this.’ But those are the songs that you’ve made popular. Clearly you love sex. You’re obsessed with it.”

Carpenter was also condemned for demonstrating a “Juno” sex position during the Short n’ Sweet Tour. Speaking about the criticism she received, the pop star stated, “There’s so many more moments than the ‘Juno’ positions, but those are the ones you post every night and comment on. I can’t control that.”

Furthermore, the vocalist expressed her disappointment towards people judging her sensuality. She pointed out how women are “picked apart more, and scrutinized in every capacity.” Carpenter highlighted the hypocrisy behind “girl power” and “women supporting women” themes. She said, “In reality, the second you see a picture of someone wearing a dress on a carpet, you have to say everything mean about it in the first 30 seconds that you see it.”

On June 11, the singer announced her seventh album, “Man’s Best Friend,” on Instagram. While many were excited, some criticized her in the comments. They slammed the first photo of the announcement post, calling it “embarrassing” and “uncomfortable.” Meanwhile, the studio album is set to release on August 29, 2025.
