I’m already stretching for my non-existent cartwheel after realizing we are a few short weeks from Season 2 of America’s Sweethearts DCC Season 2. The revival of the series on Netflix took viewers by storm. You could say it left us all thunderstruck. So, with a new season ahead, let’s take a look at where some of the Season 1 cast are now.
Where are the America’s Sweethearts DCC Season 1 cast now?
Victoria Kalina
Victoria Kalina had a love-hate relationship with the DCC. Viewers watched as she desperately wanted to be in a role of leadership. But due to her quiet tendencies, she was often overlooked. Victoria also opened up about her body image struggles and disordered eating. Season 1 showed the coaches and Victoria questioning if she had gone as far as she could as a Dallas Cheerleader. In an emotional finale, Victoria decided to hang up her pom-poms as a fourth-year veteran. During a YouTube Q&A in June 2024, Kalina confirmed that she decided to move to New York City. For the last ten months, she has been living her dream in the Big Apple and even auditioned to become a Radio City Rockette. While she didn’t make the cut this time, she hasn’t given up.
Reece Weaver
Reece Weaver was the rookie everyone just couldn’t help but love. The brunette was spunky and classy, and always had a smile plastered on her face. She was the only one out of her first-year friends to make the squad, which often left her feeling sad. But Reece persevered and became the belle of the ball. In April 2024, she married Will Allman, her college sweetheart. The pair tied the knot at The Barn At Cottonwood Ranch in Callahan, Fla. Reece also auditioned for the squad again in June 2024 and made the team as a second-year veteran.
Kelcey Wetterberg
The pediatric nurse was the heart of the DCC squad for Season 1. Kelcey Wetterberg was the team captain who showed how important giving back was to a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. During Season 1 fans watched as her long time boyfriend, Nate Crnkovich, got down on one knee to propose. The couple had dated for four years, and the five-year veteran was more than ready. According to People, she and Nate said “I do” on December 31, 2024. At the time, she told the outlet, “This wedding is a dream come true. My wedding day is always something I wondered about as a young girl, but I don’t think I ever could have imagined one as beautiful as this. God couldn’t have given me a better husband!”
Madeline Salter
Madeline Salter was one of the cheerleaders who tugged on a viewer’s heartstrings. DCC followers quickly learned that the third-year veteran was a legacy dancer. But her openness about her father’s mental health struggles is what made her a genuine fan favorite. After her father passed, Madeline kept cheering, telling cameras, “I just knew I had a job to fulfill. You’re here for a reason, and you need to do it. Dad had a saying growing up, ‘Someone’s gotta do it, might as well be you.’” Fans will be happy to hear she has auditioned once again and returned as a fourth-year veteran on the squad.
Sophy Laufer
Sophy Laufer was a steady DDC star who understood what it meant to be part of a team. Many viewers didn’t recall Sophy in the earlier episodes, but haven’t forgotten her due to the finale. Sophy was inappropriately grabbed by an on-field photographer during the Thanksgiving 2023 game. This was a big day for the squad as Dolly Parton had agreed to perform at the halftime show. Sophy was unsettled but decided to file charges and even spoke to the police. Perhaps more upsetting was the fact that there wasn’t enough evidence to move forward. But Sophy showed courage under fire and taught viewers it was always important to stand up for yourself. Sophy remains a key member of the DCC squad and returned as a third-year veteran for the 2024 season.
