When The Valley first premiered, Jason Caperna seemed like the quiet, level-headed guy who’d balance out the drama. I actually really like him as part of the friend group. He was the one with the law degree, the calm tone, and the mature energy. But now that we’re deep into Season 2, we have to clock it. Jason has fully crossed over into menace territory. He’s no longer the background husband sipping cocktails and avoiding the mess. He’s the one starting it and then acting like he’s above it all. Whether it’s his ongoing weird obsession with Danny Booko or the way he and Janet Caperna tag-team every conversation like it’s a deposition, Jason is becoming downright insufferable.
Jason Caperna keeps picking on Danny Booko during The Valley Season 2
During Season 1, all the guys of the group seemed like genuine friends. But things started to change early on in Season 2. At first, it seemed like Jason just didn’t vibe with Danny, which is fine. Not everyone has to be best friends. But by mid-season, it’s clear: Jason is actively picking on the voice-over actor. Whether it’s passive-aggressive jabs or questioning Dark Side Danny’s drinking, Jason has taken on a weirdly personal vendetta against the Bookos. And the worst part? The lawyer tries to frame it as a concern or a logical argument.
But The Valley fans see through it. It’s not about facts, it’s about control. And Jason is taking a page out of Janet’s book. Jason seems determined to paint Danny as immature, unreliable, and somehow not up to The Valley’s social standards, all while sitting on his Bravo high horse. Let’s not forget that Danny, for all his quirks, has largely stayed in his lane. Yes, Danny has been filmed drinking on screen, a lot. But for Jason and Janet to insinuate that the child actor has a drinking problem is not cool. They are actively trying to ruin Danny’s good name. Jason is not the one blowing up every group event or turning every dinner into a cross-examination. Jason’s the one doing the most, and it’s starting to feel a little obsessive.
Is Jason Caperna the next Jax Taylor?
Watching Jason and Jax at the guys’ dinner was scary. It felt as if the two had decided earlier that they were going to tag-team Danny. Jason is starting to give off serious Jax Taylor vibes and not in a good way. Sure, he dresses cleaner and doesn’t scream at producers (yet), but the arrogance is familiar. So is the hypocrisy. Jax has always been known for projecting his own insecurities onto everyone else, and now Jason is doing the same.
He’s constantly accusing others of lacking accountability while dodging any real self-awareness. He interrogates people under the guise of honesty, but it’s really just judgment wrapped in legal jargon. At least Jax is upfront about being a hot mess. Jason hides behind logic and vocabulary, but the energy is the same: dominate the narrative, control the group, and steamroll anyone who doesn’t fall in line. In The Valley, everyone is a little messy. But Jason pretending he’s some moral compass while stirring up drama is what makes it so grating.
Jason and Janet Caperna are menaces on The Valley
If Jason’s the prosecutor, Janet is the co-counsel. The two of them have become an exhausting duo, constantly inserting themselves into every situation, then acting shocked when people push back. It’s like they think The Valley is their courtroom, and the rest of the cast are unwilling witnesses. Together, they’ve taken over friendly gatherings with condescending tones and smug glances. There’s nothing chill about the Caperna dynamic this season. They’re not trying to build friendships, but they are trying to win arguments.
When I think of the Capernas, all I can think about is how much of a menace they are. It’s like moral superiority meets micromanagement. And while that might make for decent reality TV, it’s starting to make them the least enjoyable people to watch.
The Valley is available to stream on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
