Dakota Johnson shares what she learnt about dating amid Chris Martin split rumors

Rumors of Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin’s breakup have recently made headlines, with the actor revealing her thoughts on dating. Amid the speculations, she appears to be focused on her career. Her latest movie, “Materialists,” has been generating buzz among fans and critics alike. While promoting the film, the actor told Deadline what she had learned about dating. Without missing a beat, she admitted that “dating sucks.”

Johnson described “Materialists” as a movie with frequently asked questions about love at its core. The actor explained that the on-screen dilemma mirrors a concern many face in reality. The 35-year-old said, “People think they’re supposed to have a certain kind of life, because of what it looks like on the internet.” She emphasized it would “feel better to just feel truly loved.”

Johnson also talked about the film’s director, Celine Song. She shared, “She [Song] felt people were more honest with her than they would be with friends or family, or even their therapist.” Reflecting on the reason, the actor said, “People become so desperate to lock down a certain ideal.” She further shared how it was fascinating that “it was more about material aspects of living than it was about emotional, visceral, soulful aspects.”

Finally, she told the outlet, “And I also learned that dating sucks.” Clarifying her stance, she explained, “I don’t have personal experience, but I know from friends of mine that trying to find your person is just difficult.” She added, “It’s both beautiful and scary and I think it makes every human question their worth, which is sad.”

Despite Dakota Johnson’s ongoing rumors about a potential breakup with Chris Martin, the actor acknowledged that there was no guaranteed path to love and dating. She said, “There’s no right or wrong answer to love.”
