This season of Love Island USA has had its share of ups and downs. And not all the drama came from inside the villa. Two contestants have now been removed from the show for previously using racial slurs. Jeremiah Brown spoke about Cierra Ortega’s recent exit, calling it “weird” while reiterating that he doesn’t condone any type of racial or discriminatory remarks.
ICYMI, an old post of Cierra’s resurfaced in which she used a racial slur. Having set a zero tolerance precedent against any racial or derogatory language, fans assumed that she would also be removed from the show. And true enough, she was pulled from Season 7.
Cierra was removed from Love Island USA Season 7
The first islander to leave the villa for racial slurs was Yulissa Escobar. She was an OG islander, but by the second episode, she was pulled from the show for using the N-word. While the show did not address Yulissa’s exit other than to simply announce it, it seems like the producers decided to be proactive. And it looks like they’ve done it again in Cierra’s case.
They kept it simple. Narrator Iain Stirling simply said that Cierra left the villa “due to a personal situation,” during the July 6 episode of the show. However, fans knew that it was due to backlash from her resurfaced post.
When Yulissa left, Jeremiah shared that the producers didn’t give the islanders the details. They just said she also left for personal reasons. He only found out what happened when he got his phone back.
Now, on a TikTok Live, Jeremiah, who was previously eliminated, was asked what he thought about Cierra’s exit. He didn’t shy away from giving an answer.
“I don’t condone no type of racial slurs,” he said. “That racial stuff is weird to me. I have been dealing with that my whole life. Racial stuff is never cool.”
He honestly seemed pretty confused about what happened and he’s not the only one. Things have been really up and down this season. Wonder if there are any more surprises before the finale.
