Prince Harry and King Charles will likely reunite at the 2027 Invictus Games. The CEO of the international multi-sport event in Birmingham, Helen Helliwell, exclusively told PEOPLE that the games will return for another iteration.
She also hoped that Harry and the royals would be in attendance. The news came in light of recent reports claiming that the Duke of Sussex has been looking forward to reuniting with his family after stepping down from his duties in 2020.
Invictus Games CEO hints at Prince Harry and King Charles’ reunion
PEOPLE recently cited Helen Helliwell, the Invictus Games CEO, who hinted at a possible reunion between Prince Harry and King Charles. The Duke of Sussex created the adaptive sports tournament for wounded, injured, and sick military service personnel and veterans in 2014. Now, Helliwell is looking forward to him and his family attending the event’s upcoming iteration in 2027. She delightfully extended the invitation to the royals during the conversation.
The CEO then heaped praises on Harry for his compassion and the bond he has shared with the community. “His passion is unsurpassed,” she spoke about the Duke of Sussex, adding that she had witnessed the impact of his action. Helliwell further talked about his interactions having a “magical sparkle dust” and his “really special relationship” with the community, before expressing her excitement “to host him in Birmingham as well.”
However, there’s no confirmation that either Prince Harry or King Charles would attend the Invictus Games 2027. The CEO stated that they’re “two years away” from the event, and it’s “too soon to confirm who’s going to be there.” She told the outlet that it would be their pleasure to welcome the presence of the royal family members.
Reports have recently alleged that Harry has been trying to make amends with his family since stepping away from his duties. He and his wife, Meghan Markle, reportedly withdrew from their positions as working royals in early 2020 and subsequently moved to California. The Duke of Sussex has since made efforts towards a royal reunion.
