Barack Obama on what raising a son instead of daughters would look like
In a promo clip of the upcoming episode of “IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson,” Barack Obama candidly talked about what he would have been like as a boy dad. The former president shares two daughters, Sasha and Malia, with his wife, Michelle Obama. While on the podcast, the politician disclosed that it would have been quite difficult for him if he had a son to raise.
During their conversation on the podcast, Barack told his wife, “I think we did a pretty good job of raising our girls.” The former president then shared, “But I’ve said often that I think I would have had more difficulty raising a son.” In response to that, the former first lady said, “I agree.”
Barack then went on to talk about what kind of traits he might have shown if he were a father to a son. The former president explained, “I think I might’ve been more judgmental, harder.” He further expressed, “I would’ve tried to — I’d like to think I would have been more self-aware enough to combat that.” After that, he added, “I just think father-son relationships, for me particularly, if I don’t have a dad around to show it to me, might’ve been more difficult.”
Barack and Michelle Obama got married in 1992. Their firstborn daughter, Malia, is currently 27 years old. The couple’s second daughter, Sasha, is 24 years old.
