Luke Evans recounted a conversation between him and King Charles about the history of his family and his relation to Vlad Tepes III in his memoir, “Boy from the Valleys: My Unexpected Journey.” Per People magazine, the Welsh actor disclosed that when he met the King for the first time at a charity gala, the royal went on to ask him about what work he was doing at the time. In response to the question, Evans told him about his role as Vlad Tepes III in the 2014 action-horror movie, “Dracula Untold.”

Luke Evans recalled that as soon as King Charles heard about the film, his “eyes lit up.” The King then revealed to him, “I’ll tell you an interesting story.” The royal continued, “I’m actually related to Vlad Tepes.” In the memoir, the actor further penned, “To my astonishment, he then proceeded to talk me through his entire lineage, all the way back to the 1400s.” Evans also wrote, “He told me he now owns a number of properties in Romania, where Vlad was ruler.”

After hearing what King Charles told him, Luke Evans said to him that it was “the most incredible story.” “Yes, and not a lot of people know it,” responded the royal, as recounted in the book by Evans.
