Emira D’Spain of Next Gen NYC shared a very unique treatment she used recently for her dry eyes. And it’s a doozy! She put placenta in her eyes and she thinks it was the best thing ever!
It’s no secret Emira has always been a trailblazer. She held her own against several of Bravo’s notable nepo babies and became a stand out on the show. So, it’s not surprising that she’s always willing to try things that are innovative and unique.

“I’ve struggled with dry eye for the longest time,” Emira shared in a reel she posted to her Instagram. “My dry eye was so bad, it created micro-tears in the bottom of my eye.”
Dry eyes are a common condition. According to the Mayo Clinic, it happens when the eyes fail to produce enough tears or produce poor-quality tears. Because of this, the eyes are dry. This can lead to inflammation or even damage the surface of the eye.
Emira shared that her doctor recommended Prokera, a medical device treatment approved by the FDA. Doctors use donated amniotic membrane to heal damaged corneas without causing inflammation or scarring. The amniotic membrane is the part of the placenta closest to the baby.
“(It’s) Amniotic tissue that restores your eye to its optimal health,” Emira shared. “It doesn’t hurt or anything. It just feels really uncomfortable. It’s like a giant contact you wear for a couple of days.”
Emira wore on in each eye for 24 hours and her eye was taped shut so she wore a “glam pirate patch.” She still ran errands with it on, although it affected her depth perception. But she “couldn’t be happier” with the result. Her eyes felt healthier and looked brighter and whiter.
“Apparently, a lot of celebrities do this to get their eyes super white,” Emira said. “This has to be my craziest beauty secret ever.”
