The Traitors New Zealand Saved by Public Funding After Cancelation

At the close of 2024, both seasons of The Traitors New Zealand came down from ThreeNow, otherwise known as the streaming app that this series called home, due to financial issues at Warner Bros. After that, many people assumed that this series would never return, but now, we have some good news to report for the fans. The Traitors NZ is soon returning from the grave, and it is all thanks to the taxpayers, who deserve nice things.

The Traitors New Zealand Season 3 will happen after cancelation

Twenty-two strangers from New Zealand will soon meet in a stately southern manor somewhere in New Zealand. As always, these contestants will all be eager to win the massive cash prize at the end of this season. But for many, the thought of a Season 3 is prize enough. After all, most people thought this series was dead in the water towards the end of last year.

In a challenging media environment, allocating funding for local content is extremely difficult. Thankfully, NZ On Air, an autonomous Crown entity, has stepped up to help. As a result, the third season of The Traitors NZ will receive $1,436,911 in funding, which is enough to dust off the round tables and Traitors robes to start anew on another season.

NZ on Air has never typically funded reality television series in the past. However, according to Stuff, this organization knew that this series was an “audience favorite.” Therefore, they allocated their funding to this program, aiming to uphold “diverse local content” for the people of New Zealand.

Filming for Season 3 is expected to start later this year. At the helm will be Paul Henry, the host of Seasons 1 and 2. As for when Season 3 begins, as soon as we hear more, we will keep you updated.

The Traitors is streaming on Peacock.
