Popular YouTuber MrBeast is brewing yet another elaborate project, this time drawing inspiration from The Hunger Games. Suzanne Collins’ bestselling book series famously features a dystopian setting where the oppressive Capitol chooses 24 young tributes from powerless Districts to fight to the death in an enclosed arena. The last tribute standing is crowned as the Victor. Now, MrBeast plans to replicate the idea with a fun version of the game, minus all the violence.
Here’s everything we know so far.
MrBeast shares his plans to recreate real-life Hunger Games
During a recent appearance on the Today Show, YouTuber Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson confirmed that he is working on an upcoming project based on The Hunger Games.
Donaldson had previously created an internet phenomenon when he organised a real-life Squid Game contest. The video amassed over 100 million views within just three days and became one of his most ambitious projects. He plans on replicating the success with a Hunger Games-style survival competition.
When asked about the project, Donaldson seemed a little surprised that the idea had been leaked. However, he gladly shared his vision for the competition. “I don’t know where you guys are getting your intel from. Well, yes, obviously we won’t kill people,” he joked.
He further explained this potential venture, explaining, “I’ve been sitting on this idea where it’d be fun to grab potentially 26 random people, to put them on an island.” He further clarified that they will “not use real weapons, maybe like laser tag or something like that – and then the last remaining one wins a million dollars, to recreate Hunger Games in real life. I think that’d absolutely crush.”
MrBeast went on to give a brief overview of the similar projects he had organised in the past. “We recreated Squid Game, we also rebuilt Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, and I have a chocolate company, and we gave away golden tickets, brought people out, and people loved it. A lot of times, we just bring these fictional ideas to life, and people love seeing it,” he stated.
Although MrBeast confirmed a Hunger Games-based contest, he has yet to share any further details. Key information like the cast, the filming location, or the release date still remains under wraps. We expect MrBeast to make an official announcement in a future video, detailing the elaborate competition.
