Katy Perry will soon go through the second phase of the legal fight against Carl Westcott, a dying veteran, who in 2020, sold the singer his $15 million mansion via Bernie Gudvi, her business manager. Carl Westcott suffers from Huntington’s disease, a neurological disorder. The legal process between the two began when the veteran had a change of heart regarding the sale of his property. In December 2023, the judge in the case ruled in favor of the singer and declared her the rightful owner of the mansion.
Later, Katy Perry went on to countersue Carl Westcott. She claimed that she was owed $3.25 million by the veteran in damages. The “Firework” singer’s legal team then added an extra $2.29 million in damages for repair. The veteran’s son, Chart Westcott, recently talked to The Post about the legal case and his father’s health condition. He called Perry “greedy” and questioned her morals for dragging his dying father to the courtroom.
Dying veteran’s son slams Katy Perry for not apologizing to them
Carl Westcott’s son, Chart Westcott, has taken a dig at Katy Perry for not apologizing to his very ill father and their family for making them go through the legal case revolving around the $15 million mansion. As reported by the New York Post, Chart Westcott said, “Katy could’ve walked away at any time with grace and humanity.” He continued, “Instead, she has chosen to fight a dying man in court, all for money. OK, that’s who we’re dealing with here.”
While talking about his father’s condition, Chart Westcott explained, “He is bedridden. He has late-stage dementia and Huntington’s.” He continued, “His ability to speak kind of ebbs and flows. Some days are better than others.” He added, “He’s stable, but it’s declined.”
The veteran’s son then went on to question the singer’s morality. Chart Westcott said, “There’s no argument to justify what’s happening here from a moral perspective.” He further explained, “like this is the exploitation of a man whose mind and body are basically shutting down, and he’s being dragged into court.”
Chart Westcott also called Katy Perry “greedy.” He continued, “I just can’t believe she hasn’t even apologized. She hasn’t even said, ‘Sorry, we’re putting you through this.” The veteran’s son further stated, “Avoiding accountability for her immoral and wrong choices is basically a hallmark of her.” “She’s essentially a giant spoiled brat,” he added.
