Sydney Sweeney’s Baskin Robbins Ad Sparks Buzz Amid Jeans Controversy

Wondering why Sydney Sweeney’s Baskin-Robbins ad is suddenly everywhere? As backlash mounts over her American Eagle campaign, fans have resurfaced her earlier ice cream commercial. But what’s behind the renewed interest?

Here’s what sparked the controversy, how political figures got involved, and why the Baskin-Robbins ad is going viral again.

Sydney Sweeney’s Baskin Robbins ad attracts attention amid jeans controversy

Sydney Sweeney’s Baskin-Robbins commercial is gaining renewed attention online as backlash continues over her American Eagle jeans advertisement. The earlier Baskin-Robbins ad features the Euphoria star in a pink dress enjoying various ice cream treats. The commercial ends with the tagline “Sweet on Sydney Menu,” referencing the limited-time summer menu launched in collaboration with the brand.

The viral resurgence follows controversy surrounding American Eagle’s ad that featured the line, “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.” Sweeney also says, “My jeans are blue” in the video. Critics online claimed the language promoted eugenics. In response, the White House criticized so-called “woke” narratives, while Donald Trump called the campaign “fantastic” upon learning Sweeney is a registered Republican.

The Baskin-Robbins ad originally aired in June 2025 when the ice cream brand announced a summer partnership with Sweeney. The collaboration introduced the “Sweet on Sydney Menu,” available starting July 1. The limited-time offerings include Sydney’s Signature Scoop, which features Rainbow Sherbet in a chocolate-dipped waffle cone with rainbow sprinkles and gummi bear minis, and Sydney’s Signature Fizz, which blends Rainbow Sherbet with STARRY lemon lime soda and is topped with gummi bears.

The ad’s online resurgence includes viral posts such as “Sydney Sweeney Baskin Robbins is gonna melt liberal minds. I want ice cream now” and “Way better than Ben & Jerry’s.” One account falsely claimed it was a new ad, though the campaign predates the American Eagle controversy.

Sweeney stated, “Baskin-Robbins has been part of my life since I was a kid… I’ve always loved their Rainbow Sherbet, and getting to put my go-to order on the menu is such a full-circle and rewarding moment.”
