NFL’s Travis Kelce has shared his final reaction to the Kansas City Chiefs‘ loss at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX in a recent interview. The championship game took place on February 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. The game served as a rematch between the Chiefs and Eagles. The two teams previously played against each other at Super Bowl LVII. The Chiefs and Eagles finished the season with a 15-2 and 14-3 record, respectively. The latter eventually defeated the former, 40-22. Jalen Hurts, the Eagles’ quarterback who scored three touchdowns (two passing and one rushing) — and completed 17 out of 22 attempts for 221 yards — set the record for quarterback rushing yards with 72 and became the Super Bowl MVP.
Travis Kelce’s final reaction to Super Bowl defeat explained
At a recent press conference, Travis Kelce, who is returning for his 13th year in the NFL, shared that he had a slightly different mindset for the Kansas City Chiefs‘ 2025 campaign compared to the one he had last year. He explained that this new mindset was essential for him and his team in producing another postseason run, which would hopefully lead to both another entry into the Super Bowl and a different outcome from last year.
He shared his reaction to the Kansas City Chiefs’ loss against the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LIX. “I’ve thrown that thing in the trash,” the 35-year-old stated. He added that he had “moved on,” saying, “It happened sooner than you can imagine. I was pretty focused on this year in the offseason” (via ESPN).
Kelce later discussed his experience at training camp. He emphasized how one had to find enjoyment in it, despite the negative aspects.
“You’ve got to go through the dog days and enjoy it for what it is, man,” The Happy Gilmore 2 actor shared. “We’re rocking and rolling, man.”
He continued, “It’s training camp, so you’re going to feel the soreness and the heavy workload you’re getting every day. You’ve got to enjoy it for what it is and fight through that.”
Kelce’s comments about moving on from the Super Bowl Loss invited skepticism from ESPN radio host Freddie Coleman.
“I really don’t believe him, that he just threw that in the trash that quickly because its one thing to go for a three-peat and you don’t get it,” Coleman shared. “But then to have the stones beaten out of you like that by the Philadelphia Eagles, he can that say he processed that in the trash compactor all he wants” (via The Daily Mail).
