Liam Neeson is not sure if Labubu doll is edible
Labubu has become the new favourite trend of the Internet, with many celebrities owning this collectible monster toy. However, actor Liam Neeson is clueless about the biggest pop culture moment.
In a recent interview with Fox News, when the host showed the photo of the popular Chinese plush doll to Neeson and asked if he recognized it, “The Naked Gun” star immediately admitted he was not aware of the trending toy. “I have no clue. No. Seriously, I don’t know,” he said to the host.
When told about the doll, the 73-year-old star took a long pause before asking an unexpected question: “Okay, It’s a fluffy doll. Or, can you eat it?.” The reply instantly made it clear that the Irish actor is not a part of the Labubu craze, unlike many celebrities who have jumped on the bandwagon. From Kim Kardashian, Megan Thee Stallion, Rihanna, BLACKPINK’s Lisa, to Dua Lipa and David Beckham, many A-listers are proud owners of this doll.
The plush toy, created by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung, is sold by Pop Mart. As per the site, in 2015, the artist “created a fairy world in three picture books inspired by Nordic mythology.” He populated the world with “magical characters both good and evil, calling them The Monsters.”
Among them, the most important character was “LABUBU, a small monster with high, pointed ears and serrated teeth. Despite a mischievous look, LABUBU is kind-hearted and always wants to help, but often accidentally achieves the opposite.” These colorful dolls are often sold in bling bags and can be hooked to purses and bags as accessories.
