Taylor Swift has announced her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. She made the reveal during an appearance on Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce.

The announcement was made at 12:12 a.m. ET on Aug. 12, via the podcast teaser, followed by a countdown on Swift’s official website. In a video shared on Instagram, Swift, 35, opened a mint green briefcase marked with “T.S.” and revealed, “This is my brand new album, The Life of a Showgirl.” Travis Kelce cheered, “TS 12!” The blurred cover is online, with vinyl, cassette, and CD pre-orders available. CDs include a poster, and copies ship before Oct. 13, though the release date is unconfirmed.

The podcast teaser showed Swift opposite Kelce, with the singer saying, “That’s such a nice color on you,” to which Kelce replied, “It’s the color of your eyes, sweetie. It’s why we match so well.” The set featured books about artists Jean-Michel Basquiat, Marc Chagall, Ruth Asawa, and Mark Rothko, alongside a silver microphone and a football.

Swift’s website displayed a glittering orange countdown in mint green lettering before revealing the album details. Earlier, Taylor Nation had posted 12 images from the Eras Tour with the caption, “Thinking about when she said ‘See you next era…’”

The Life of a Showgirl is Swift’s first album since The Tortured Poets Department in 2024. That record set Spotify milestones with 300 million streams in a single day and over 1 billion in five days. In May 2025, she regained the masters to her first six albums, securing full catalogue control. She has sold over 200 million records and holds the U.S. record for most No. 1 albums by a female artist.

Her Eras Tour was the first to gross over $1 billion, earning more than $2 billion in 21 months.
