Travis Kelce admitted he felt “butthurt” after missing a chance to give Taylor Swift a personal gift during a tour stop. The NFL star shared the story on his New Heights podcast. He hinted that the moment pushed him to take the next step.
Here’s what we know about the incident and its impact on their connection.
Travis Kelce talks about being ‘butthurt’ over Taylor Swift’s gift
Travis Kelce said he got “butthurt” after attending Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour because he wanted to meet her and couldn’t.
Kelce’s “butthurt” comment referred to his failed attempt to give Swift his number at her July 2023 show. He said this moment sparked him to publicly express interest.
Speaking on the Aug. 13 episode of the New Heights podcast, Kelce explained, “I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings. So I was a little butthurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”
“I would’ve never gone to that show and been mesmerized, and just been captivated, and then left with such a desire to want to meet you, I would have never went on here told everybody how butthurt I was.” He added, “I had never been so engulfed in the curiosity of who you were.”
Kelce credited the Eras Tour with starting their relationship, telling Swift, “As much as… you want to give New Heights credit, I give the Eras Tour credit.” Swift responded by asking him to elaborate, prompting his story about the first time he saw her perform live.
He recalled how the contrast between her stadium presence and their personal interactions struck him.“It’s like you see you on that stage and see how you can get an entire stadium going, and then I get you in a room and it’s like I’ve known you forever,” Kelce said. “It’s the easiest conversation I ever had, and it was just so much fun that it knocked my socks off.”
The conversation took place during Swift’s nearly two-hour appearance on New Heights, which she co-hosted with Travis and Jason Kelce. She also discussed her October 3 album, The Life of a Showgirl, and her “green flag,” Kelce’s loyalty to lifelong friends.
