After viewing 10 episodes over the course of three weeks, Netflix fans are not happy about the Perfect Match Season 3 winners. The Netflix reality TV dating series wrapped up its third season on Friday August 15. After five couples entered the finale, one last compatibility challenge meant that only two remained at the end. Then the winners were decided on by votes from the rest of the Perfect Match Season 3 cast. And judging by social media reactions, those cast members chose wrong.

Why are the Perfect Match Season 3 winners controversial? And which couple did fans want to win instead? We have all the details below.

Why fans think the wrong couple won Perfect Match Season 3

After the finale on Friday, Perfect Match fans reacted on social media. And they were not happy about the results, to say the least. On Twitter/X, multiple users wrote that they couldn’t believe Netflix made fans wait a week for the finale just for it to be so disappointing.

Ultimately, the Perfect Match cast chose Daniel and Lucy. As a result, they won a week-long all-expense-paid vacation, and the title of Perfect Match. On the one hand, Daniel and Lucy were coupled up from night one straight til the end. But the other hand, this victory was a bit of a surprise considering their bumpy ride.

Early on, Daniel accused Lucy of embarrassing him in the kissing challenge. Then he got upset with her for laughing too loud when talking to another guy. However, on the boy’s day, Daniel acted very flirty with Olivia. He made out with her quite a bit and even licked her inner thigh on a dare.

Olivia herself called out Daniel’s behavior in the finale. Also, Hannah from The Mole pointed out that while Louis flirted with other girls, he was always honest to Sandy about it. Hannah asked why Daniel couldn’t extend the same honesty to Lucy.

On their final date, Lucy even said, “I don’t know if I’d accept that behavior in the outside world.” Even before the finale, fans were in Lucy’s Instagram comments remarking that she deserved much better.

Adding insult to injury, their finale celebration had a not-so-happy ending. After the credits rolled, a title card informed viewers that Daniel and Lucy broke up mere weeks after the finale. Fans on X weren’t shocked by this development.

Who fans think should have been the Perfect Match Season 3 winners instead

Months before Perfect Match Season 3, fans already knew that one couple ended up together. That’s because in March, Ollie and AD announced their engagement. Then in June, the couple revealed they are expecting a baby. So, fans were pretty surprised they didn’t win.

Producers seemed surprised as well. After the title card revealing Daniel and Lucy broke up, Perfect Match had one more surprise in store. Cameras picked back up six months after the Season 3 finale for a very special occasion. The season ended by showing viewers Ollie’s beachside proposal to AD. Of course, we already knew she said yes. Then it cut to three months after that, when Ollie and AD announced their pregnancy, with producers showing their Instagram reveal. This whole epilogue began with a title card that read, “you don’t have to get first place to be a winner.” Twitter/X user @ormainy asked, “How could anyone doubt Ollie’s love for AD?” and called them the real Perfect Match.

However, others were disappointed by Ollie’s behavior this season. Some fans on social media wanted Ray and Rachel to win. It would’ve been a nice ending for Rachel after what she endured over the season. Namely, the shocking moment when Clayton Echard broke up with her on tv for the third time.

Would the Season 3 winners be different if the cast could vote between all five couples? Who’s to say. But it appears AD and Ollie are the only finalists still together. So, perhaps they won in the end regardless.

Perfect Match is available to stream on Netflix.
