Howard Stern Accused of ‘Desperate Hoax’ After Firing Rumors

Rumors have been swirling that Howard Stern is set to be fired from his long-running chat show gig. But according to an insider, it’s all a front, and allegedly, a desperate ploy to stay relevant.

The Howard Stern Show has been a regular fixture on SiriusXM’s schedule for two decades. But is its time nearly up? Recent reports have indicated it could be. Earlier this month, The Sun reported that while the radio channel was likely to make Howard an offer, they were counting on his refusal. “Sirius and Stern are never going to meet on the money he is going to want. It’s no longer worth the investment. There’s no way they can keep paying his salary,” a source told the publication.

However, all may not be as it seems. A source speaking to the Daily Mail alleged that the rumors actually came from inside Howard’s camp. “They’re desperately trying to make this thing go viral to try to boost his numbers for his return,” the insider said. Apparently, the stunt was designed to make people tune in to “see what he’s going to say about getting ‘fired’ from Sirius”, because his numbers are “pathetic”. Ouch.

This savage insider could be onto something. A trailer for the show’s return in September definitely isn’t shying away from the rumors. According to the Hollywood Reporter, it states: “Now we can reveal all the questions will be answered, all the truths will be told by the one man truly on the inside. Howard Stern will speak Tuesday September 2.”

Whatever happens, the outspoken 71-year-old won’t be going hungry. His previous five-year contract earned him an estimated total of $500 million.
