One of Perfect Match Season 3’s most shocking moments was when Rachel Recchia and Clayton Echard broke up for the third time. This season, the Perfect Match cast expanded beyond Netflix to include reality stars from other networks. Notably, when casting from Bachelor Nation, producers chose two exes.
Clayton asked Rachel to give things another shot in the Perfect Match villa. But it didn’t last long. As in, less than 24 hours later, he changed his tune completely. He infamously cited his “intuition” as the reason. After that very fast turnaround, Rachel went on a date with Scott from Love Island, while Clayton left the villa.
Now that Perfect Match Season 3 is over, Rachel is spilling all the details of their disastrous reunion. Including where she and Clayton stand today. She also shares what happened with her and Ray Gantt, and teases who she’s dating now.
Rachel Recchia shares new details on her Perfect Match breakup with Clayton Echard
In an interview with Elite Daily, Rachel spilled about her choice to give Clayton another chance. She said that wasn’t on her mind when she joined the cast. Referencing her time on Bachelor in Paradise, Rachel said, “I’ve been on dating shows before with my exes, and we were cordial and did our own thing.” She mostly hoped her and Clayton could catch up.
However, he convinced her to give him another shot. Which she did, despite knowing her mom and friends would disapprove. But he initially said all the right things. Rachel explained, “I had been waiting for a really long time to hear those words that he was saying to me.” She added, “He said more that wasn’t aired, which really convinced me.”
When he changed his mind because of “intuition” the next day, Rachel was completely mortified. She ran to her room in the villa to hide her embarrassment from the rest of the cast. She credits co-stars AD, Lucy, and Madison for convincing her to stay on the show.
After watching the show, Rachel sees his exit in a new light. Clayton had control of the game board with Sandy, putting Rachel on a date with Scott. But before he entered the board room, he hoped to put himself on a date with a new girl. However, there were only male contestants on the board.
Initially, Rachel said of his exit, “It felt a little poetic, because the idea was him giving me the season, he’s stepping away, and maybe he does actually care.” But now she feels differently. “But he was ready to let me go home that night if there were girls on the board he wanted to date.”
Where does Rachel stand with Clayton and Ray after Perfect Match Season 3?
Rachel hasn’t spoken to Clayton since the Perfect Match Season 3 premiere. And it doesn’t seem like she’s terribly interested to after watching the show. However, she emphasizes that she only wants the best for him.
She’s glad she wasn’t “meaner” to him and doesn’t like to see the viewer backlash. After their Bachelor breakup, she says, “the audience went so hard on him, and they’re doing it again.” She emphasizes, “I never want him to experience that again.”
What about her Perfect Match from the show? Rachel and Ray were only a couple for a few days, but some viewers were rooting for them to win. However, she confirms they’re no longer together. “We both knew it was more of a friendship,” she says of their connection, emphasizing, “to this day, we are so close.”
Who is Rachel dating now?
In the interview, Rachel confirmed she’s seeing someone. However, it’s not Blake Moynes, which may disappoint some of her Bachelor in Paradise fans. Instead, Rachel is dating someone else from the Perfect Match cast. She won’t say who, but hints that fans will recognize them and be “excited” about it. In addition to her dating life, Rachel also wants to get back to her career as a pilot.
We know it’s not Ray or Clayton, so who else could Rachel’s Perfect Match love interest be? She was paired with Scott for a few days after their date. And she initially entered the villa after a date with Freddie Powell, a fan favorite from Love Is Blind UK. Rachel also flirted a bit with Carrington Rodriguez from Love Island USA. For now, Rachel isn’t giving any more hints. But let’s hope they don’t say “intuition,” as she now jokes that’s an “ick” for her.
