Sting is facing a new court battle. The plaintiffs are his fellow members of The Police. The former bandmates have been locked in a feud for years. Could this court battle put an end to it – and put a dent in the singer’s fortune?
Sting’s former bandmates from The Police are suing for millions

A lot of celebs face court battles at some point – but it has to “sting” when it’s your own bandmates. The Police frontman, real name Gordon Matthew Sumner, is set to fight in court over alleged unpaid royalties.
Guitarist Andy Summers and drummer Stewart Copeland have lodged a lawsuit with a London High Court. They are claiming ‘substantial’ damages, although it’s not yet clear just how much money they feel they are owed. The pair’s claim is reportedly based on the lead singer not giving them songwriting credits.
Those credits are certainly worth a lot now. The band’s biggest hit, Every Breath You Take, is said to bag Sting an impressive $740,000 every year. And that’s just one song. As the sole credited songwriter, these royalties have helped the singer accumulate a net worth of around $550 Million, according to Celebrity Net Worth
A source told the Sun: “This has been coming for quite some time. Lawyers tried repeatedly to reach an out-of-court settlement but hit a stalemate. Andy and Stewart decided there was no alternative than court so pressed the button. They say they are owed millions in lost royalties.”
Sting has been on the other side when it comes to reclaiming lost royalties. Speaking to Charlamagne Tha God in 2018, he revealed that Sean “Diddy” Combs was forced to pay him $2,000 a day for sampling Every Breath You Take without permission.
