Why Prince William and Kate Middleton Are Moving Their Family to a New Home — Source

As members of the British Royal Family, Prince William and Kate Middleton have no shortage of housing options. Reports say their current abode is starting to feel a bit too small. Instead, they have set their sights on a much grander estate.

The Prince and Princess of Wales have been raising their family in Adelaide Cottage for the past four years. While most of us peasants would consider the property plenty big, it is rather pokey by royal standards. The four-bedroom, two-bathroom home sits on the grounds of Windsor Castle, not a bad place for children Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7 to grow up.

But the couple have outgrown the home, reports Radar Online. A source told the outlet the family “need somewhere more substantial.”

Apparently, their next home could be the much more impressive Fort Belvedere. The mansion sits on 59 acres in Windsor Great Park and has eight bedrooms, as well as staff quarters. It comes complete with a pool, a tennis court, stables, two lakes, and multiple manicured gardens. How the other half live, right?

The source said said the Fort would be “the perfect new home” for the young family.

Built in the mid-18th century, Fort Belvedere was renovated in the 1820s, when it was given its Gothic Revival style. It was once home to Edward VIII, the king who famously abdicated to marry American divorcee Wallis Simpson. The mansion was leased to late Canadian billionaire Galen Weston in the 1980s. Though he passed away in 2021, his family continues to call the sprawling estate their home. Perhaps not for very much longer.
