Luis Guzmán’s dismissive response when Jennifer Lopez’s name came up during an appearance on Hot Ones Versus has sparked online buzz. He and his Wednesday co-stars played a one-word association game with celebrity names. While he offered warm praise for Adam Sandler and Catherine Zeta-Jones, his blunt reaction to Lopez’s name drew audible shock.
Luis Guzmán has something to say about Jennifer Lopez
During a recent appearance on Hot Ones Versus, Luis Guzmán delivered an unexpected response when Jennifer Lopez’s name was mentioned.
Guzmán joined his Wednesday castmates Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, Georgie Farmer, and Joy Sunday for the segment. The actor, who portrayed Gomez Addams in the hit Netflix series, was asked to take part in a one-word game reflecting on the biggest stars he has collaborated with throughout his career.
Myers said, “I will now run down a list of your previous collaborators, and you must quickly give me one word that describes them.” When prompted, Guzmán praised Adam Sandler with “amazing” and described Catherine Zeta-Jones as “bellísima.” However, the tone shifted dramatically once Lopez was brought up. The actor simply shrugged and replied with a flat, “OK.”
The reaction from his co-stars was immediate: Joy Sunday gasped aloud, while Ortega and Myers couldn’t help laughing. Guzmán himself gave no explanation, choosing not to elaborate on why he shaded Lopez. After Lopez’s name, Myers turned the focus to Jenna Ortega. This time, Guzmán’s tone brightened completely as he called Ortega a “prodigy” and mouthed “love you” in her direction.
Guzmán and Lopez share professional history, having worked together in Steven Soderbergh’s 1998 film Out of Sight. In that project, Lopez portrayed federal marshal Karen Sisco opposite George Clooney, while Guzmán played Chino.
Since the episode aired on August 26, 2025, neither Guzmán nor Lopez has addressed the exchange. However, the clip has circulated widely across social media. The stark difference in Guzmán’s reactions has fueled speculation among fans.
