It’s never fun to be sick while you’re abroad – especially if you’re somewhere as beautiful as Venice. George Clooney is probably feeling pretty sorry for himself right now. The actor arrived in Venice, Italy on Tuesday for the city’s annual film festival. However, despite being seen waving to fans from a boat as he checked into his hotel, his presence has been missed at the festival.

George, 64, didn’t make it to the press junket for his new film, “Jay Kelly.” Director Noah Baumbach joked at the event, “Even movie stars get sick.” The Hollywood legend was also absent from the official press conference yesterday. The moderator for the event said of his absence: “We really hope, and I think he should be on the red carpet tonight. But he is very sorry he cannot be with us,” reports People.

Thankfully, it isn’t anything too serious. The A-listers mysterious illness has been revealed to be a sinus infection. A source close to the actor told Page Six: “George has been diagnosed with a sinus infection and is under doctor’s orders to cut back all activities.”

The actor seems to have recovered after a bit of R&R. He and wife Amal Clooney walked the “Jay Kelly” red carpet at the festival last night. The human rights lawyer looked characteristically chic in a bright pink dress. Their joint appearance comes amid reports of alleged marriage troubles.

How loaded on Tylenol the actor was we’ll probably never know.
