Jennifer Aniston has appeared at many big charitable functions, but is always a no-show at one of the biggest.
The former co-star of the hit TV show Friends has never attended the Met Gala, a highly inclusive event featuring numerous celebrities. Having to put on so many fancy clothes for numerous significant events is something the Emmy Award winner is not a fan of.
The Met Gala is an invitation-only function featuring the biggest stars in numerous industries, all decked out in fancy suits and dresses.
Jennifer Aniston is invited to the Met Gala, but doesn’t go for one specific reason
Jennifer’s name is always on the guest list for the Met Gala, yet we never see her at the event. One of the world’s highest-paid actresses never accepts the invites because:
“It overwhelms me,” she told Glamour magazine recently.
“I’m a ‘jeans and flip-flops and tank top’ kind of girl. I love dressing up too, but for me it’s a mental game of…’ Let’s get dressed up, put on a fancy dress, makeup, get your hair all ‘purdy’ and go sit in a big room with your peers.”
Dressing up is not always something that Jennifer enjoys doing.
The co-star of the Apple TV series The Morning Show admits she’s had a complicated relationship with red carpet events.“Some people find it like a sport where they build you up and then they love to tear you down,” she said in reference to the harsh criticisms stars get for their wardrobes.
In an InStyle column in 2021, she said that she’s never understood “how to pose” element in a big event.
“I don’t know how to stand on a red carpet, but you do the best you can,” said Jennifer.
At last year’s Emmys, she wore a sparkling, strapless silver gown. A few months earlier at the Golden Globes, she had a timeless, custom black strapless dress.
Evidently, though, the Met Gala on the first Monday of May is where she draws the line. She’s not the only big name we don’t see at the event. Meryl Streep and Jennifer’s ex-husband Brad Pitt are among the other celebrities notably absent.
