Love Island USA Season 7 finalists Iris Kendall and Pepe Garcia have called it quits. Pepe announced the split on Thursday, August 28, only three days after the reunion was released on Peacock. Fans noticed a bit of tension at the reunion. It appeared Iris was ready for a relationship, while Pepe was focused on taking things slow. Both parties have spoken publicly about the split. Why did Love Island USA’s Iris Kendall and Pepe Garcia breakup?
Pepe and Iris sparked breakup rumors in late August after fans noticed they unfollowed each other on Instagram. Iris also removed all her photos with her Villa beau from her feed. Pepe confirmed the rumors on August 25, telling TMZ that he and Iris were no longer together.
After Pepe dished to TMZ, Iris released a statement of her own.
“The connection that I formed has ended, and while it isn’t how I would have imagined, I will always value the unique experience that we shared,” she told E! News. “It’s been a difficult transition, but I’m moving forward with hope, gratitude, and positivity for the future.”
She also thanked fans for their continued support, saying she is “so grateful for all of the love.”
Did either Iris or Pepe cheat?
In his interview with TMZ, Pepe addressed the infidelity rumors, saying there is no truth to the online rumors.
“I like to say, my friends and family, are the people that support me, they know who I am as a person, and that’s honesty. That’s the biggest, the most important thing,” he shared.
“It’s a tough thing when they’re a lot of eyes on you,” he continued. “[But] I don’t care what people [online] think. I care what my friends and family think.”
Iris has not spoken out about the cheating rumors, but she has liked TikTok comments saying she deserves better.
