During the Season 2 finale of The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys, we finally saw Steven McBee Jr. break the news to his brothers that their father has been the subject of an ongoing FBI investigation. Obviously, his brothers felt shocked by that bombshell.
That scene was filmed months ago, but in real life, we’re just one week away from Steve McBee Sr.’s sentencing. Things are getting real for the family, and Steve Jr. recently admitted that the dynasty is feeling the pressure.
It’s a “scary” time for the McBee family amid an FBI investigation
According to the Feds, Steve lied to an insurance company on multiple occasions about his crop yields. He underreported how much corn and soybeans his farm produced, which resulted in him getting massive insurance payouts. The government quickly caught onto the scheme.
In a new interview with Bravo’s The Daily Dish, Steven Jr. admitted to feeling “scared, nervous, anything, and everything” while waiting for their father’s judgment day. Steve’s sentencing hearing is on September 9, and he faces up to 30 years in prison.
“All of the emotions are being stirred leading up to my dad’s sentencing. We love him so much, and love our family unit, so to picture him not being here with us for any amount of time … it’s scary,” Steve said.
Throughout Season 2, Steven Jr. tried to keep his dad’s FBI investigation a secret from the rest of the family. They were already navigating their farm’s financial struggles, and he knew the investigation would make things even more difficult. Now, the eldest of the McBee boys said that it feels like a “black cloud” lingering over the family,
“We’re focusing on the positive things we have going, of which there are so many, but I’d be lying if I said that black cloud hasn’t been hanging over us every second of every day since we first found out,” Steven said.
“We’re ready to get past that day, deal with whatever comes of it, and move on, to say the least,” he continued. “We know no matter what, if we stick together as a family, we’ll make it through anything.”
