Kim Kardashian has faced much criticism regarding her parenting choices over the past month. If the reality TV star thought it had died down, she’s in for a rude awakening. A new backlash has begun after fans spotted something shiny on daughter North West’s finger.
North West got a hand piercing that can be dangerous, and Kim Kardashian fans aren’t happy
Fans were already upset at Kim for allowing North to wear a corset and miniskirt while in Rome. Now certain corners of the internet are ablaze after one eagle-eyed fan noticed what appears to be a piercing on the 12-year-old’s hand.
On photos snapped from Kim and North’s vacation in Rome, the tween seems to be sporting a dermal finger piercing. This type of piercing is regarded as one of the riskiest, with some professionals refusing to offer it.
The piercing has a chance of high rejection and infection compared with other body piercings. It’s also pretty easy to snag on jewelry, clothing and other objects, leading to pretty gruesome injuries. Given the lack of thick skin on fingers to anchor the piercing, they often don’t heal very well.
Observers took to Reddit to voice their concern about the new fashion statement. After one commenter said the piercing looked infected, another replied: “Surface piercings are notoriously hard to heal. I can’t imagine that getting one on one of the dirtiest and most used parts of the body is a great idea.”
Whether or not Kim was present when North got the piercing is unknown. The Skims founder has previously spoken about her eldest daughter’s independent-mindedness. In an old episode of The Kardashians she said sister Kourtney Kardashian “always says that North is my lesson on this planet. I’m supposed to learn even more about patience – she teaches me patience.”
