Kate Middleton and Prince William were destined to be together, according to a former butler. They may have had a very public split in 2007, but the reunion only made them stronger, says the Buckingham Palace insider.
Grant Harrold opens up about Prince William and Kate Middleton’s split and reunion in his new book The Royal Butler

Having worked as a butler for King Charles for seven years, you can bet Grant Harrold has seen some things. The former royal staffer, who left the Palace in 2011, witnessed many private moments. And in his new book, The Royal Butler, he offers a rare glimpse into the early days of Kate and William’s relationship.
The couple hit the headlines in April 2007 when they called time on their relationship. But it didn’t last long. They reunited just a few months later, and Grant saw the way their bond changed after they rekindled their romance. The butler remembers serving them an intimate Valentine’s dinner at William’s home in 2008, “It was just the two of them. It was really nice, quite special actually,” he said at an event promoting his book, per People.
And their relationship apparently became much more evident from there. The butler recalls: “Before, they weren’t [really] holding hands – it was very much ‘William’s friend’. After that, when they got back together, it absolutely changed, and it was very much them as a couple. Something changed, and you knew they were a couple.”
The royal staffers became convinced the pair would end up married, and in 2011 they were proved right. If Grant’s observations are correct, they should be in for a long and happy marriage. He said the way the couple interacted reminded him of William’s late grandparents. “They remind me of the Queen and Prince Philip. Their relationship was similar. They were best friends who worked together as a team,” he said.
