During a live episode of America’s Got Talent, comedian and judge Howie Mandel made a sexually suggestive comment directed at Sofia Vergara. The NSFW joke, which referenced her sex life, caught the audience and the fellow judges in an awkward space.

The incident happened during Tuesday night’s quarterfinals AGT show following a daring aerial performance by duo Jacqueline and Wagner.
The act featured a particularly perilous move where Jacqueline was swung through the air while holding onto nothing but her partner’s grip on her bright red hair. The judges were universally impressed, but the conversation took a different turn when Sofia Vergara brought up the terrifying hair-held stunt.
Responding to her comment, Howie Mandel leaned over and made the NSFW joke, saying it was like “a date for you.” He immediately covered his mouth, seemingly aware he had crossed a line. Vergara appeared to brush off the remark, but their co-judge, Mel B, did not hide her disapproval. The former Spice Girl shot Mandel a disgusted look and promptly slapped him on the arm in a moment of clear admonishment.

This wasn’t the first time Howie Mandel joked about Sofia Vergara’s personal life. Earlier this year, he teased her on Live with Kelly and Mark while discussing Deal or No Deal Island, a new show hosted by Sofia’s ex-husband Joe Manganiello. Although Howie hosted the original Deal or No Deal for years, he admitted he wouldn’t appear on the spin-off, cheekily adding, “Not every marriage lasts,” while referencing Sofia’s 2023 divorce.
