Last year, we learned that Kamie Crawford would be leaving Catfish: The TV Show after six years on air alongside Nev Schulman. Since then, MTV has shared zero updates about the future of the show. Now, it sounds like Nev has decided to embark on a new career path, since it seems like his show may have been quietly cancelled. He’s no longer exposing liars on the internet, and instead, he’s selling houses. It’s a big difference, but he claims there are some similarities.
Nev Schulman says Catfish helped him ease into a real estate career
The news of Nev’s new career move arrived via People, nearly a year after the last new episode of Catfish aired on MTV. He announced to the outlet that he has joined Coldwell Banker Warburg as a licensed real estate agent, and he’ll be selling luxury real estate in New York City. According to Nev, hosting the MTV show for all of those years helped him prepare for this new chapter.
“Hosting Catfish taught me how to listen deeply, build trust quickly, and help people navigate some of the most emotional decisions of their lives,” Nev said. “Real estate in New York is no different — you need empathy, patience, and the ability to see through the noise to find the right home.”
That sounds nice on paper, but it’s a bit of a stretch. In actuality, this is the Schulman family business. His dad spent over 50 years working for the same real estate company, so this job has been waiting for Nev his entire life.
“After watching my father dedicate more than 50 years to this business, it feels meaningful to follow in his footsteps and join Coldwell Banker Warburg — a firm that shares the same values of integrity and personal connection that I grew up admiring,” the MTV star continued.
Although MTV hasn’t officially confirmed that Catfish is over, Nev definitely sounds like he’s moving on to a different chapter. For now, he’s got his eyes on the multimillion-dollar properties of the Big Apple. Perhaps this means his next reality show will be on HGTV.
Catfish: The TV Show is streaming on Hulu.
