You’d probably expect the daughter of a multi-billionaire to be rolling in cash. But in a recent interview Vivian Wilson said that she has a relatively humble existence, despite being one of Elon Musk‘s 14 kids.
Elon Musk’s daughter Vivian Wilson says she doesn’t have a lot of money
Elon Musk is currently the richest person on the planet, according to Forbes. But his eldest daughter has revealed that she is far from a wealthy trust fund kid.
As part of a candid profile for The Cut, she said: “People assume I have a lot of money. I don’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars at my disposal.”
She said of her parents, author Justine Wilson and Elon: “My mom is rich, right? But, obviously, the other one is unimaginable degrees of wealthy.”
She revealed she lives in a houseshare to save on rent and isn’t that bothered about having lots of money. She explained: “I don’t have a desire to be super-rich. I can afford food. I have friends, a shelter and some expendable income, which is nice and much more fortunate than most people my age in Los Angeles.”
Despite insisting he isn’t materialistic and doesn’t care about money, he seems very keen to hold onto all of his. The billionaire famously said he would donate $6 billion if the United Nations World Food Programme could describe how it would solve world hunger. The UN drafted a plan, but no donation was ever made. Well, you probably don’t become the richest guy in the world by having integrity.
Vivian and Elon have been estranged since 2020, after she came out as transgender. Elon was far from supportive, stating in an interview with Jordan Peterson that he had “lost” his son to the “woke mind virus”. Vivian legally changed her surname from Musk to Wilson in 2022. She has previously referred to Elon as a “pathetic man-child.“
