Travis Kelce recently opened up about his engagement to Taylor Swift. He gushed about starting a new chapter with the singer and how excited he is. But do his words match his actions? It’s a resounding yes, according to a body language expert.
Travis Kelce’s smile is “authentic” and not just for show
As Jason Kelce eloquently put it, it’s the engagement “felt around the world.” His brother Travis popped the question to Taylor Swift last month, and it’s been a major topic of discussion since.
The NFL star recently discussed the engagement on the brothers’ New Heights podcast. He said on Wednesday’s episode: “It’s been really fun telling everybody who I’m going to be spending the rest of my life with.”
Speaking of the first time he introduced Taylor as his fiancée, he said it was “pretty cool”, adding: “I still get giddy. Exciting times. It’s still fresh.”
While those are pretty much the sentiments you’d expect from a newly-engaged guy, Travis apparently isn’t phoning it in. Body language expert Joanne Pearson from British Lie Detector Test says the Kansas City Chiefs player shows genuine excitement, though he seems a little nervous.
She explained: “Travis beams when he talks about Taylor, and his smile is the biggest giveaway of his genuine happiness. But alongside the excitement, you can see his nerves – the fidgeting hands, the quick gestures, the slight shift in his posture. It’s the behaviour of a man who knows just how big this moment is.”
Analyzing his smile, she said: “Kelce’s grin isn’t for cameras – it’s authentic. His eyes crinkle and is cheeks rise in what’s known as a Duchenne smile, only triggered by real emotion. That tells us Taylor is at the centre of his joy.”
Ultimately, Joanne concluded that the signs are looking very positive for the couple: “Travis Kelce’s body language shows a man deeply in love and proud to share it with the world,” she said. “The nerves are natural – in fact, they make his emotions even more believable. He isn’t rehearsed, he isn’t playing a part. He’s a man who knows he’s found his partner for life – and his body language shows he’s already acting like the perfect husband.”
