It’s been a demanding few years for Jonathan Bailey, and the English actor is ready for a break.
The Critics’ Choice Award winner has been involved in plenty of projects in recent years. From multiple seasons of Bridgerton, along with Wicked, Fellow Travelers, and Jurassic World: Rebirth, he’s been seemingly working nonstop.
His performances have made him in demand with fans eager to watch him on stage, TV and the big screen. The Emmy Award-nominated actor reprised his role as Fiyero in Wicked: For Good, a sequel to the movie/musical Wicked. The original film garnered multiple Academy Award nominations, winning for Best Production Design and Best Costume Design.
Jonathan Bailey explained why he is taking a break from acting

Jonathan won’t be focusing on a new character for a while, but he will be putting his attention elsewhere.
“I’ve been working solidly for about three years now, which has been amazing and mind-blowing,” the actor told GQ. “But with everything happening in the world right now, I’m going to stop acting for a bit next year and just focus on the Shameless Fund.” That fund, which Jonathan founded, raises money for non-profit organizations that support the LGBTQ+ community through creative collaborations.
“Over the next few months, I’ll be focusing on staffing and making sure we get all the right people in all the right places,” Jonathan added. “There’s this statistic: out of every £100 raised in the U.K., only 1 [penny] goes to the LGBTQ+ community. You really have to dig to find solutions, and I genuinely think The Shameless Fund is exactly that.”
Their debut collaboration was with the fashion brand Loewe’s, with the Drink Your Milk collection. On Instagram, the Shameless Fund has over 53,000 followers.
Wicked: For Good is currently in post-production and scheduled for release in November.
