Don’t worry, Survivor 49 is almost here. We’ve endured months without Hidden Immunity Idols, Tribal Council blindsides, and Jeff Probst screaming from the sidelines. Much about the upcoming season is still under wraps, but we do know some details. Here’s everything we know about Survivor 49.

When does Survivor 49 start airing?

Survivor 49 will kick off with a two-hour premiere on Wednesday, September 24. After the premiere, the episodes will be 90 minutes long. CBS made the switch from 60 to 90 minutes in 2023. The move was prompted by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which left a hole in programming for the network. The scheduling change was meant to be a short-term solution, but after seeing the positive response from fans, the network stuck with it.

Have there been any Survivor 49 cast reveals?

The 18 new castaways competing for the million dollar prize were revealed on August 20. Among them is a film producer, a wellness specialist, and a rocket scientist. Two original cast members are missing from the list due to disrespectful behavior. Jeff revealed to TV Insider that production replaced two cast members 12 hours before shooting began because they violated a pre-game rule. Before shooting begins, contestants are held in sequester in Fiji. Players are prohibited from interacting or “pre-gaming” with each other. According to Jeff, the two cut players violated one of the rules.

“I cannot think of a time we have ever pulled somebody for violating our pre-game rule policy of not talking to other players,” he shared. “I’m sure over the years we’ve had people push the envelope a bit and then our casting team will step in and say, ‘Hey, we know it’s difficult, but just remember you can’t talk until the game starts. And that’s when you’re in front of Jeff.’ This was very different. This was blatant disrespect for the casting team.”

Survivor 49 alternates, Jason Treul and Michelle “MC” Chukwujekwu, replaced the cut players.

Survivor is available to stream on Paramount+.
