There is something special about a girl’s first room and the mother who helps shape it. Olivia Culpo‘s baby girl Colette’s nursery is just that: very special. The model and former Miss Universe gave fans a peak into her little one’s homemade heaven. On September 12, Culpo gave PEOPLE an exclusive look inside the space.
Olivia Culpo’s forest-themed nursery is giving calm and chic
Nurseries are not just four walls and a bed. They are also that special place where first stories are read; where secrets are shared under the blanket; where the light of a ‘Hello Kitty’ or ‘Barbie’ lamp alone helps keep all ghosts and monsters away. And, when one’s mom is Olivia Culpo, one can expect nothing but dreamy vibes.
The star welcomed a daughter with husband and San Francisco 49ers star player, Christian McCaffrey, in July. Culpo, also designed a nursery for her little lady during this time, partnering with ‘Crate and Barrel’. Olivia revealed that she wanted the nursery to feel “like a calming oasis.”
The room comprises of neutral-toned furniture and forest-inspired wallpaper, and a cozy rocking chair previously used by Olivia. She highlighted the changing table that also functions as storage. “It’s below a mirror, so Colette loves looking at herself while we get her ready for bedtime or snoozes.”
While the chief of the process was the media personality herself, Culpo kept her mom and husband very much involved in the nursery design process, as well. “Sometimes I’d narrow it down to two or three options, and get their thoughts,” she shared. However, choosing the colors was not always a walk in the park. The reason being that her husband, Sam, is colorblind.
Her favorite piece in the nursery, though, is the crib with classic wood details. Culpo said that “it will transition beautifully” as her daughter gets older. She also highlighted that she is not considering adding any gadgets or trendy swings to the room.
Culpo shared the sweetest part about motherhood for her: finding a new version of herself, from her daughter’s point of view. Surrounded by family, friends and lots of advice, the new parents are still falling back on their intuitions when it comes to parenting. “You can read every book and listen to every piece of advice, but ultimately, every baby is unique,” she remarked.
